Ajax have announced the signing of Maximilian Ibrahimovic, the 19-year-old son of former club legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic, on loan from AC Milan until the end of the season. The deal includes an option for Ajax to make the transfer permanent in the summer.

Maximilian, a right-footed winger, arrives from Milan's under-23 side, where he made 16 appearances this season, scoring five goals and providing three assists. The purchase option is reported to be valued at 3.5 million euros.

Ajax announced the signing through official club channels, with the message "Like father, like son" and "De tal palo, tal astilla", referencing the family connection to the club's history.

Marijn Beuker, Ajax's director of football, expressed satisfaction with the arrival. "We are very satisfied with the arrival of Maximilian," Beuker said. "He is a talented forward with good positioning sense inside and near the area, and very goal-oriented in finishing. He stands out in dribbling and, above all, has a great winning mentality and exemplary character in training."

According to Beuker, Maximilian will primarily feature for Ajax's under-23 side this season but will be integrated into the first team with a view to becoming "a permanent part of Ajax 1's attack" in future.

In his presentation, Maximilian stated his intention to forge his own path. "I am an independent person and player and I want to write my own story," he said. "I am feeling good and excited."

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, widely regarded as one of Sweden's greatest ever players and the country's all-time top scorer, made his name at Ajax during a spell from 2001 to 2004, scoring 48 goals in 110 appearances before joining Juventus. He went on to play for Inter Milan, Barcelona, AC Milan, and other top European clubs during a career spanning multiple decades.
