Authorities in Buenos Aires seized a military arsenal and items bearing Nazi symbolism from the home of an 89-year-old man in the Flores neighborhood after a medical emergency call two weeks ago.
The discovery occurred at an address on Lautaro Street in Flores when a neighbor alerted emergency services that the man had become ill. The Sistema de Atención Médica de Emergencias (SAME) and the Policía de la Ciudad responded to provide medical assistance. After the man was transported to Hospital Piñero in the Bajo Flores area, officers entered the residence and found the weapons cache.
Police recovered fourteen handguns, one machine gun with tripod, two heavy rifles, and eleven additional firearms of various types, according to authorities. The residence also contained ammunition and a collection of clothing and objects bearing Nazi symbolism. The total number of items seized exceeded twenty pieces.
Federal authorities are investigating the origin of the weapons and whether they were properly registered. The investigation is ongoing as to how the man came into possession of the arsenal and the Nazi-related materials found in his home.
