An influencer and her boyfriend were found fatally shot on a rural roadside in Brazil, authorities said. The bodies of Ulissias Marcelli, 30, and Vinícius Souza de Carvalho, 28, were discovered by a farm worker on a road in Porto Seguro, a city in Bahia state, on Friday night. A communication delay meant the discovery was not reported to authorities until Saturday morning.
Marcelli was a content creator known for her goth style who had over 20,000 Instagram followers. She was scheduled to host the Rock Gaya Festival, a music and arts event in Porto Seguro set for July 25, just days after her death.
The Civil Police said the pair may have been held captive before they were killed. Both bodies bore gunshot wounds consistent with firearm injuries, according to authorities. Police are investigating the deaths as a double homicide.
Investigators are pursuing multiple lines of inquiry. Captivity and drug trafficking are among the primary hypotheses being examined, authorities said. A possible debt linked to narcotics activity is also under investigation as a potential motive for the killings, though this line remains unconfirmed.
In a separate case, Brazilian chef Dener Marcos Guieiro, 28, was found dead in London on Saturday after going missing on July 4. Guieiro, a native of Belo Horizonte who had studied gastronomy, had lived in London for six years and worked in a restaurant. He was last seen in the early morning hours of July 4 in the Hackney district in east London, where he also worked.
His body was discovered in a park in the same Hackney neighborhood where he disappeared. According to his family, the body was found in an advanced state of decomposition and was taken to the equivalent of London's medical examiner's office, where it awaits legal procedures. The London Metropolitan Police did not disclose whether the body showed signs of violence.
