Chipotle Mexican Grill opened its first restaurant in Mexico on Thursday in San Pedro Garza García, Nuevo León, part of the Monterrey metropolitan area. The opening marks the company's entry into the Mexican market under a development agreement with Alsea, a leading restaurant operator in Latin America and Europe.

The company selected Monterrey for the strength of its economy and growing population. The restaurant will serve Chipotle's menu of freshly prepared, customizable burritos, bowls, salads, tacos and quesadillas to Mexican customers.

The partnership between Chipotle and Alsea was announced in April 2025. Alsea also operates other major brands in the region, including Starbucks locations across Latin America.

Chipotle and Alsea plan to open additional locations in Nuevo León state later this year, following the inaugural Monterrey opening. The companies have also announced plans to expand into Mexico City in 2027, signaling a broader rollout across the country.
