Novo Nordisk, the Danish pharmaceutical company, announced a rebrand under the shortened name Novo as part of a strategic corporate transformation. The company will present the new brand identity to investors on September 21 at an investor day in London.
Under the rebrand, Novo will serve as the company's commercial name, while Novo Nordisk A/S will remain the legal entity name globally. The company said the change reflects efforts to adapt to evolving societal expectations regarding health and wellness.
Mike Doustdar, president and chief executive of Novo, said in a statement that the company has transformed major areas of healthcare, including obesity and diabetes treatment. "However, there remain unmet demands and people's expectations regarding health are changing," Doustdar said. "Healthcare needs to be more agile, relevant and easy to integrate into everyday life."
The company stated that its brand and culture are strategically important and will improve how it operates and competes, without changing its core purpose. The central focus of the rebrand centers on "long-term health," according to the company.
Doustdar added that the new brand and culture will enhance the company's operational approach and competitive positioning. The rebrand represents a fundamental shift in the company's identity and strategic direction as it seeks to address what it describes as changing health expectations in society.
The new visual identity and branding elements will be formally unveiled to the investment community at the London investor event on September 21.
