Fifteen reputed members of Brooklyn gangs were arrested in connection with a series of shootings across the borough that resulted in one death and seven injuries, officials announced Monday.

The shootings occurred over the past 13 months and involved nearly 200 rounds fired, according to Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez. Four of the seven people shot were bystanders, authorities said.

The incidents took place throughout Brooklyn in residential areas and downtown neighborhoods, spanning 10 police precinct areas and more than a dozen neighborhoods. Some shootings occurred during daylight hours on busy streets filled with pedestrians and motorists, Gonzalez said at a news conference at the Brooklyn District Attorney's office.

NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch spoke at the announcement of the arrests. The charges were brought against the 15 individuals in connection with the gang-related violence that unfolded across multiple locations in the borough.

The arrests represent a coordinated law enforcement response to the sustained pattern of gun violence attributed to the gang members over the 13-month period.
