A man was arrested Monday at El Dorado International Airport in Bogotá, Colombia, after attempting to board a flight to Barcelona, Spain, while wearing a commercial pilot uniform to pose as an airline crew member, according to Colombian National Police.
The suspect was carrying approximately 10 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride concealed on his body, authorities said. He aroused suspicion during security control procedures at the airport. When subjected to a body-scanning inspection, agents located the drug hidden beneath his clothing.
The man, who is not Colombian, was dressed in a dark blue suit with gold shoulder boards when intercepted by police officers. He had presented himself as an airline company employee in an attempt to board the aircraft, according to an official police statement.
The cocaine was divided into packages and secured to his body with adhesive tape, authorities said. The suspect was detained at the scene and transferred to competent authorities, where he faces charges related to drug trafficking, manufacturing, or possession of controlled substances.
Colombian National Police released video footage showing agents apprehending the suspect at the airport terminal.
