A 39-year-old man was stabbed to death in Midtown Manhattan late Monday night near Times Square, authorities said. Police are searching for three male suspects in connection with the attack.
The stabbing occurred around 11:30 p.m. outside Burger & Lobster, a restaurant on West 43rd Street between Broadway and Sixth Avenue. The location is steps from the Stephen Sondheim Theatre in the Theater District and near a police precinct.
The victim was stabbed multiple times in the face, back, and chest, according to the NYPD. Emergency responders transported him to Bellevue Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police have not released his identity pending family notification. Law enforcement sources said the victim was homeless.
Investigators said the attack stemmed from a verbal dispute between the victim and the suspects. It remains unclear whether the victim knew his attackers. One witness reported seeing the man arguing with someone shortly before the stabbing.
The three suspects fled the scene on foot heading east. They were last seen wearing black or dark-colored clothing. Police have not provided additional descriptions of the suspects. No arrests have been made, and the weapon used in the attack has not been recovered.
