A man is dead after being shot multiple times on a busy sidewalk in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, on Wednesday night, authorities said.
The shooting occurred near the Broadway and Lewis Avenue intersection. The victim was found with several gunshot wounds and was transported by EMS to Kings County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later. The victim's age and identity have not been released.
Multiple customers were inside the nearby 24-hour Deli Magic Grocery at the time of the shooting. They ran to the back of the store for cover as the gunfire erupted. Once the incident ended, they went outside to assess the situation.
Police recovered several shell casings at the scene and found a cell phone. Officers canvassed the area for several hours, gathering evidence. Multiple surveillance cameras positioned at different angles of the crime scene recorded the incident, and authorities said they will review the footage frame by frame as they search for the shooter or shooters.
The motive behind the deadly shooting remains unclear, police said.
