Tyler Boebert, the 21-year-old son of U.S. Representative Lauren Boebert, was arrested Sunday in Colorado on multiple felony charges related to the alleged sexual exploitation of a child, authorities said.
The Garfield County Sheriff's Office took Boebert into custody following an investigation and a felony review process by the 9th Judicial District Attorney's Office. Court records list the alleged offense date as January 1, 2024, according to multiple reports.
Boebert faces three counts of sexual exploitation of a child—including charges related to inducement or enticement, possession with intent, and video—along with two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. According to reporting by The Denver Gazette, the charges stem from a sexually explicit video allegedly made in early 2024 involving Boebert, then 18, and a 17-year-old girl. He is accused of producing, possessing, and distributing sexually exploitative material.
Boebert was booked into the Garfield County Jail and released the same day after posting a $10,000 bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for August 19.
Rep. Boebert issued a statement to media outlets saying, "I love my son. We take these allegations very seriously and pray for everyone affected during this challenging time."
Tyler Boebert currently lives in the Town of New Castle, located in Garfield County. This arrest follows a previous incident in February when he was cited for misdemeanor child abuse without injury after his 2-year-old son wandered out of Rep. Boebert's Colorado home.
