Baltimore County police are investigating a shooting that occurred Sunday evening at Cardiff Hall apartments in the 8000 block of York Road near Towson University in Maryland, leaving one man injured.
Towson Public Safety issued an alert to the campus community at 7:20 p.m. reporting the shooting at 8013 York Road. Shortly before 8:30 p.m., the university sent an email notice to community members indicating that a shooting investigation was underway at the Cardiff Hall Apartments, with police activity in the area as authorities searched for suspect or suspects.
A man was transported to an area hospital for treatment of his injuries. His condition has not been released by authorities.
In response to the incident, Towson University issued a campus-wide shelter-in-place order Sunday night. The alert advised everyone on campus to shelter in place and close windows and doors. University officials directed all persons on campus to avoid the immediate area and to report any suspicious activity to police.
Police reported additional police activity on campus near Osler Drive that was related to the shooting investigation. Baltimore County Police and Towson University Police Department are actively searching for suspects in connection with the incident.
