Woman sought after 98-year-old man attacked in Brooklyn building

A 98-year-old man was punched, kicked, and struck with a broomstick and metal chair during a confrontation in a Prospect Lefferts Gardens residential building lobby Thursday afternoon.

A 98-year-old man was assaulted in the lobby of a residential building in Prospect Lefferts Gardens on Thursday afternoon, and police are searching for the woman they say was responsible.

The attack occurred around 4 p.m. inside a building near Maple Street and Rogers Avenue. According to the New York Police Department, the victim entered the lobby and encountered a person distributing flyers. An argument ensued between the two.

The confrontation turned physical. Police said the suspect repeatedly punched and kicked the elderly man before striking him with a broomstick and a metal chair. The suspect then fled the building.

Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and treated the victim for minor injuries. Neighbors described the man as well-liked and personable.

The NYPD released surveillance footage of the suspect and is continuing to investigate the incident. Police have not disclosed additional details about the nature of the argument or the suspect's identity.
