Barack Obama to launch podcast on books that shaped his worldview

Former U.S. President Barack Obama will launch a podcast series dedicated to six books that have influenced his life and thinking, officials announced Monday.

The series, titled "A Great Book with Barack Obama," will debut in September and be produced by Audible in partnership with Higher Ground, the media company Obama operates with former First Lady Michelle Obama.

In a statement, Obama said that great books have long helped him understand who he is and what he believes. "The six books featured in this series have stayed with me throughout my life, and each has something to teach us about the human experience," he said.

The podcast will feature Obama in conversation with a small group of friends as they discuss the selected works. According to the announcement, the discussions aim to explore why these books resonate with audiences, how they can shape understanding of oneself and others, and why literature matters.

Obama has a long history of publicly sharing his reading habits. The new podcast represents an expansion of that practice into a dedicated audio series format.

Higher Ground, the production company behind the series, was established by Obama and Michelle Obama to develop content across multiple media platforms. The partnership with Audible, Amazon's audiobook and podcast service, will make the series available to a broad audience.

The specific titles to be discussed have not yet been disclosed ahead of the September launch.
