Bruce Campbell, the 68-year-old actor known for his role as Ash in the Evil Dead franchise, disclosed Saturday that physicians have given him a life expectancy of approximately five years following a cancer diagnosis.
Campbell revealed the prognosis during an appearance on the Adam Carolla Show podcast. He did not disclose the specific type of cancer but described the physical impact as "a game of whack-a-mole."
In March, Campbell had previously announced his cancer diagnosis, characterizing it as incurable but treatable. His latest update provided a more specific timeline from medical professionals.
"I've decided very specifically to live with it, not die from it," Campbell said during the podcast interview. "You can get lost in a bottomless pit," he added, explaining his approach to managing the diagnosis.
Campbell described his conscious decision to limit his research into the condition. He noted that excessive information-seeking could lead to an endless cycle of searching and worry, referencing the potential to join support groups with thousands of others facing identical diagnoses.
The actor rose to prominence through the Evil Dead horror classic, which spawned a franchise. The original film also launched the career of director Sam Raimi, who would go on to direct the first three Spider-Man films.
