Katy Perry has denied allegations that she sexually assaulted actress Ruby Rose more than a decade ago at a nightclub in Melbourne, Australia.

Rose, 40, made the claim on Threads on Sunday, stating that Perry sexually assaulted her at Spice Market nightclub in Melbourne when Rose was in her early 20s. Rose said the alleged incident occurred nearly 20 years ago and that she had kept silent about it for almost two decades before speaking publicly.

"Katy Perry sexual assaulted me at spice market nightclub in Melbourne," Rose wrote on Threads in response to a post about Perry's reaction to Justin Bieber's Coachella 2026 performance. In subsequent posts, Rose provided additional details about the alleged encounter and explained her decision to come forward. "Though I am so grateful to have made it long enough to find my voice, it just shows how much of an impact trauma and sexual assault takes," she wrote.

Perry's representative issued a statement rejecting the accusations. "The allegations being circulated on social media by Ruby Rose about Katy Perry are not only categorically false, they are dangerous reckless lies," the representative said. The statement also noted that Rose has "a well-documented history of making serious public allegations on social media against various individuals, claims that have repeatedly been denied by those named."

Victoria Police confirmed they are investigating the matter. "Melbourne Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team detectives are investigating a historical sexual assault that occurred in Melbourne in 2010," Acting Sergeant Paul Hogan of Victoria Police said. "Police have been told the incident occurred at a licensed premises in Melbourne's Central Business District."

Rose indicated on Threads that she has completed her reports to authorities. "As of this afternoon, I have finalized all of my reports," she wrote. "This means I am no longer able to comment, repost, or talk publicly about any of those cases, or the individuals involved."

The allegation against Perry comes as a separate matter involving actress Anna Kendrick resurfaced. During a 2014 appearance on Conan O'Brien's talk show, Kendrick recalled an encounter with Perry at the Grammys. "Katy Perry finger-banged my cleavage. It was a weird night," Kendrick said during the interview. When O'Brien asked if Perry "just does that," Kendrick replied that her plunging Azzaro gown was "kinda asking for it."

Following Rose's allegations, Perry posted a cryptic message on her Instagram Story on Tuesday. "I love you," Perry, 41, wrote underneath an image of her 2013 song "By the Grace of God" from her album "Prism."
