Pop star Sabrina Carpenter has been granted a temporary restraining order against a 31-year-old man following a series of incidents at her Los Angeles residence, according to court documents and reports from multiple news outlets.

The man, identified as William Applegate, allegedly attempted to breach Carpenter's home on May 23, when he reportedly breached security fencing and approached her front door. Ring doorbell footage referenced in court documents showed him attempting to open the door before her security team intervened. Los Angeles police responded and arrested Applegate for criminal trespass.

According to Carpenter's legal filing, Applegate returned to her property less than 24 hours later and allegedly loitered in her driveway for approximately two hours. He appeared at her residence on at least one additional occasion, the documents indicate.

In her signed declaration to the court, Carpenter described Applegate as a "complete stranger" whom she has never met and has no desire to meet. She stated that his actions had left her in "significant and ongoing fear" for her personal safety. "His pattern of stalking, trespassing, and surveillance has caused me severe and ongoing emotional distress," she wrote in the court documents.

The temporary restraining order was granted on Friday, May 31. Applegate is scheduled to appear in court on June 18 to face charges of trespassing, a misdemeanor offense. At that hearing, the court will determine whether the temporary restraining order should be extended to a permanent order, according to reports from Billboard and TMZ.
