Fiorello and Biggio will participate in Sanremo 2026, but not as performers on the Ariston stage. Instead, the two hosts of the program La Pennicanza will provide live commentary on the festival's nightly broadcasts directly through Instagram, according to reports.
The project, titled "Durante Festival," will air live from February 24 to 28, 2026, offering what organizers describe as an ironic and lighthearted perspective on Italy's most-watched music festival. The format will allow the pair to engage with audiences on social media throughout the event.
Fiorello's involvement in Sanremo 2026 had been anticipated for some time, with hints emerging from comments by Carlo Conti, the festival's artistic director. However, Fiorello clarified his position regarding a return to the Ariston stage itself. The entertainer from Augusta stated that out of respect and friendship toward Amadeus, with whom he shared multiple editions of the festival, he would not perform on the stage again.
Despite declining a stage appearance, Fiorello emphasized that his connection to Sanremo remains strong. The decision to participate through the "Durante Festival" format represents a way for him and Biggio to remain involved with the festival while respecting his relationship with Amadeus.
