Barcelona signs Brazilian forward Kerolin from Manchester City

Barcelona announced Tuesday the signing of Brazilian international Kerolin from Manchester City on a contract running through June 30, 2030.

The 26-year-old forward, born in São Paulo on November 17, 1999, transfers from the Women's Super League champions after 18 months with the English club. Manchester City received approximately £1.3 million (€1.5 million) for the transfer, making it the largest fee ever paid for a female Brazilian player.

Kerolin spent the 2025–26 season at Manchester City, where she contributed significantly to the club's successful campaign. She scored nine goals and provided five assists across 15 WSL appearances. Her performance included a hat-trick against Chelsea in February. During her time at City, she won two major trophies: the club's first WSL title in a decade and the Women's FA Cup.

The forward previously played for North Carolina Courage in the National Women's Soccer League before joining Manchester City in January 2025 under a contract that was set to run until 2028.

Barcelona described Kerolin as one of the most exciting attacking players in world football. "Her arrival brings a player capable of making a difference in the final third of the field, thanks to her exceptional dribbling ability, speed and goal-scoring instinct," the club said in an official statement.

On the international stage, Kerolin is a key figure for Brazil's national team, having scored 15 goals in 62 appearances. She is expected to play a prominent role for Brazil in the upcoming World Cup.

The transfer also sets records within Brazilian football. It surpasses the previous record for a Brazilian female player's transfer—Amanda Gutierres' move from Palmeiras to Boston Legacy for $1.1 million. For Manchester City, Kerolin becomes the club's largest sale of a female player. For Barcelona, she represents the club's largest purchase in women's football.
