Bayern Munich drew 2-2 at Augsburg on Saturday in Bundesliga Matchday 5, after conceding the fastest goal in the league's history within seconds of kickoff.
Robin Fellhauer scored for Augsburg after 8.4 seconds, capitalizing on a mistake by Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer. Neuer received the ball directly from kickoff and took a heavy touch before attempting to chip it over the onrushing Fellhauer. The Augsburg midfielder anticipated the move, intercepted the ball, and raced forward to slot it into the empty net.
The Bundesliga confirmed the timing at 8.4 seconds, breaking the previous record of nine seconds held jointly by Kevin Volland and Karim Bellarabi.
Bayern remained unsettled through much of the first half. Augsburg's Juma Bah missed a clear chance to extend the lead on 36 minutes.
The visitors mounted a second-half comeback. Harry Kane provided two assists as Bayern equalized twice. Ismaël Saibaï and Nathaniel Brown scored the goals that brought Bayern level at 2-2.
Bayern had four goals ruled out during the match, and the crossbar denied Augsburg on two occasions.
The draw left Bayern on 11 points after five matches, two points behind league leaders Borussia Dortmund. Augsburg moved to fifth place with eight points.
Bayern had lost only once in their previous 47 Bundesliga matches before Saturday, with that defeat also coming against Augsburg in January.
