Jamal Musiala collapsed on the pitch Saturday during a friendly match between Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig, prompting immediate medical attention on the field.
The 23-year-old German midfielder fell to the ground 13 minutes after entering the match. No contact with an opposing player preceded the collapse. Teammates immediately signaled for assistance as medical personnel rushed onto the field to attend to him.
A member of the medical team gave a thumbs-up signal while treating Musiala, which brought some reassurance to those nearby. After receiving care on the pitch for several minutes, Musiala was able to stand and leave the field under his own power. According to German media reports, he was able to descend the stairs to the locker room without assistance, though he appeared disoriented.
Bayern Munich has not yet issued an official statement regarding the cause of the collapse or Musiala's current condition. The club has provided no medical details about what occurred during the match.
