Colombian footballer Santiago Castrillón dies after match collapse

Santiago Castrillón, an 18-year-old footballer for Colombian club Millonarios, died Sunday following a collapse during a match in the National Sub-20 Tournament. The player collapsed on the field during a game against Independiente Santa Fe and was immediately attended to by the team's medical staff.
Medical personnel transported Castrillón by ambulance to a hospital in Bogotá after the incident. He was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit, where he received specialized cardiovascular care. Despite medical efforts, he did not recover and died Sunday evening.
Millonarios announced Castrillón's death through a statement, describing the player as someone who lived and felt football deeply. The club referred to him as its "number 10" and noted that his characteristic smile would remain with those who knew him. The statement read: "Today football stops. The blue heart is broken (...) Santiago not only played football. He lived it, felt it, shared it with a smile that today remains tattooed in all of us."
