Flamengo was eliminated from the Copa do Brasil on Thursday after losing 2-0 to Vitória at the Barradão stadium in Salvador. The defeat ended the Rio de Janeiro club's participation in the fifth round of the competition.

Erick scored for Vitória in the first half, and Luan Cândido added a second goal in the second half. The result gave Vitória a 3-2 aggregate victory, as Flamengo had won the first leg 2-1 at the Maracanã.

The loss marked Flamengo's first defeat at the Barradão in nearly 13 years. The club had gone 19 matches without a loss at the rival's stadium, a streak that dated to December 2013, when Flamengo lost 4-2.

Flamengo's early exit represents its worst Copa do Brasil campaign since 2016, when the club was eliminated by Fortaleza in the second phase. The five-time Copa do Brasil champion has now suffered two consecutive early eliminations. In 2025, Flamengo fell to Atlético-MG in the quarterfinals. Before that, the club reached three consecutive finals, winning the title twice.

During Thursday's match, Flamengo struggled to break down Vitória's midfield marking and committed numerous passing errors early in the game. Vitória applied a structured defensive approach and advanced to the round of 16.

Flamengo, managed by Leonardo Jardim, now turns its focus to the Brazilian Championship. The club sits in second place and will face Atlético-PR away on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. at the Arena da Baixada. Vitória will play Bragantino on Sunday at 6:30 p.m.
