Andrés Perea scored his first goal of the season in the 52nd minute Saturday night as New York City FC earned a 1-1 draw against the New York Red Bulls in Harrison, New Jersey.

Perea, who entered the match as a substitute for Maxi Moralez in the 39th minute, finished from close range to equalize after the Red Bulls had taken the lead. The goal marked Perea's fourth appearance of the season following a season-ending leg injury sustained in the 2025 MLS Cup playoffs.

Jorge Ruvalcaba had given the Red Bulls a 1-0 advantage in the 44th minute. Cade Cowell played a low cross from the right side on the counter-attack that was deflected by diving NYCFC goalkeeper Matt Freese, and Ruvalcaba tapped in the rebound from point-blank range.

Freese made three saves for NYCFC, while Red Bulls goalkeeper Ethan Horvath recorded five saves.

The result left both teams with identical records. NYCFC improved to 5-5-4 and extended their unbeaten run to three consecutive matches following a seven-game winless streak. The Red Bulls also moved to 5-5-4 and remained unbeaten in three straight after a five-game stretch without a win.

Moralez was carted off the field during the match due to an apparent knee injury.
