Lando Norris won the sprint race at the Miami Grand Prix with a dominant drive for McLaren, beating his teammate Oscar Piastri to secure a one-two for the team and deny Mercedes a win for the first time this season.

Norris, the defending world champion, finished 3.7 seconds ahead of Piastri after controlling the race from pole position. Charles Leclerc took third place for Ferrari, while Mercedes endured a difficult afternoon at the circuit.

Kimi Antonelli, the championship leader, made a poor start from pole position and dropped behind the leaders off line. He finished fourth on the road but was handed a five-second penalty post-race for exceeding track limits too many times, dropping him to sixth in the final order. George Russell, Antonelli's Mercedes teammate, finished fourth, with Max Verstappen fifth for Red Bull and Lewis Hamilton seventh for Ferrari.

The result marked Mercedes' first defeat across the opening four races of the 2026 season, having won the first three meetings. Antonelli leads the world championship by seven points from Russell heading into the main Grand Prix qualifying session.

Later Saturday, Antonelli claimed pole position for the main race, narrowly beating Verstappen in a tight qualifying contest. Leclerc secured third on the grid, with Hamilton in sixth. Norris and Piastri qualified fourth and seventh respectively, while Russell could manage only fifth, four-tenths back from Antonelli. Antonelli's pole marked his third consecutive pole position of the season.
