An IndiGo flight traveling from Lucknow to Dammam in Saudi Arabia made an emergency landing at Ahmedabad Airport on Thursday evening following a bomb threat discovered aboard the aircraft.
Flight 6E97 departed Lucknow at 4:17 p.m. and landed at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Ahmedabad Airport at 5:43 p.m., according to officials. The aircraft was carrying 107 passengers and 6 crew members.
A crew member discovered a piece of paper with the word "BOMB" written on it during the flight, prompting immediate notification to security agencies. Following the discovery, the pilot diverted the aircraft to Ahmedabad for an emergency landing.
All passengers and crew members were safely disembarked and moved to Terminal 2 of the airport. Airport police inspector A D Chavda confirmed that the flight was carrying 107 passengers and six crew members, and that all were evacuated safely.
Security personnel, including the bomb squad, Special Operations Group, local police, and CISF, conducted a thorough search of the aircraft immediately after landing. Despite an intensive examination of the plane, no suspicious items or explosives were found on board, police said.
Authorities collected handwriting samples from passengers as part of the investigation. The local police and CISF continued their search operations on the aircraft, with officials stating that nothing suspicious had been discovered so far.
