Kimi Antonelli, a 19-year-old Formula 1 driver for Mercedes, was involved in a road car accident near his home in San Marino on Saturday night but walked away unharmed.

The incident occurred in Serravalle, San Marino. Antonelli's Mercedes-AMG GT 63 Pro 4Matic+ Motorsport Collectors Edition supercar struck a security barrier. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

According to a Mercedes team statement, Antonelli called police to the scene after the accident. "We can confirm that Kimi was involved in a traffic accident on Saturday night close to his home in San Marino," the team said. "The police attended the scene, after being called by Kimi. His was the only car involved and while his vehicle was damaged, Kimi was completely unhurt."

Italian authorities began investigating the cause and details of the incident from early Sunday morning. No injuries were reported beyond the vehicle damage.

Antonelli, who partners with British driver George Russell at Mercedes, is scheduled to participate in the second test of the F1 preseason this week in Bahrain. He is expected to share 50 percent of the three-day running with his teammate.
