Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Kazem Gharibabadi held a meeting with foreign ambassadors residing in Tehran on Saturday to brief them on Iran's recent proposal aimed at ending the war.
During the meeting, Gharibabadi told the envoys that Iran has consistently believed in diplomacy based on national interests as a means to resolve issues. He emphasized that the Islamic Republic had played its part in pursuing this approach while remaining fully prepared to repel any act of aggression against its people and territory.
Gharibabadi stated that Iran recently delivered its proposal to Pakistan, which is serving as a mediator for negotiations with the United States. He said the proposal aims at permanently ending what he described as the imposed war.
According to Gharibabadi, the responsibility for the next steps now rests with the United States, which must choose between pursuing the path of diplomacy or continuing with a confrontational approach. He indicated that Iran stands ready for further diplomatic engagement.
