Iran will not reopen Hormuz Strait until sanctions lifted

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said Tuesday that the Strait of Hormuz will not be reopened until oil sanctions are lifted, frozen assets are released, and the U.S. blockade ends.

Speaking at the 180th open session of the Islamic Consultative Assembly on Tuesday, Ghalibaf emphasized that the strait will remain closed until all conditions set out in the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding are fully achieved.

The conditions Ghalibaf cited include lifting the blockade, releasing frozen assets, lifting oil sanctions, and ending threats and military operations at all fronts.
