Palestinian killed by Israeli settlers in West Bank attack

A Palestinian man was killed Thursday when armed Israeli settlers opened fire during an attack on Yasuf village in the northern occupied West Bank, according to Palestinian health authorities.

Mashour Yaseen, 51, was shot in the abdomen at his home on the eastern side of Yasuf, located east of Salfit, the Palestinian Health Ministry said. A second person was wounded by a bullet fragment in the side during the same incident, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, which treated both casualties and transported them to Salfit government hospital.

Juma Abd al-Fattah, head of Yasuf's local council, said settlers from the outpost Hafat Anton attacked multiple homes in the village. He identified the outpost as having been established approximately two months prior. "A group of settlers from the Hafat Anton settlement, armed with weapons and sticks, attacked homes in the village," Abd al-Fattah said. "Among the homes they attacked was the home of the martyr Mashour Yaseen on the eastern side of the village. It is the first house on that side. They opened live fire on the home. Mashour was seriously wounded and was later declared dead, and his cousin was slightly wounded."

Abd al-Fattah added that settlers have attacked the village continuously since the outpost was established. "The settlers attack the village on an ongoing basis since the settlement was established," he said.

Israeli occupation forces also opened fire during the attack, according to the Palestinian news agency Wafa. The agency reported that forces arrested several residents during the incident.

The Israeli military said it opened an investigation into the incident.

According to the United Nations, Israeli forces and settlers have killed more than 80 Palestinians in the West Bank since the beginning of 2026.
