President Donald Trump said Monday that the war against Iran will end "very soon," declaring the conflict "very complete" and "far ahead of schedule" after nine days of military operations.

Speaking at his Trump National Doral club near Miami, Trump characterized the past 10 days of warfare as a "short-term excursion" and detailed the scale of military strikes. "We've wiped every single force in Iran out, very completely," he said, citing the destruction of more than 50 Iranian naval ships and the decimation of Iran's air force and anti-aircraft defenses.

"I think the war is very complete, pretty much," Trump told CBS News. "Iran has no navy, no communications, they've got no air force. Their missiles are down to a scatter. If you look, they have nothing left. There's nothing left in a military sense."

Trump said the United States and Israel had struck 5,000 targets since the war began on February 28, when Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed. He noted that the conflict is in its second week and that the U.S. is "very far ahead of schedule."

The president's assessment contrasted with his earlier expectations. Trump had previously predicted the war would last at least "four weeks or so" to accomplish America's goals of decimating Iran's ballistic missile program and its nuclear enrichment capabilities.

Trump also predicted that oil prices will drop as a result of the military campaign. His statement came after a weekend in which oil prices skyrocketed above $100 per barrel, roiling global financial markets.

Trump said the U.S. and Israel were "achieving major strides toward completing our military objective," though he did not detail a specific end game on Monday, instead focusing on military successes. He also indicated consideration of taking control of the Strait of Hormuz trade route.
