Pakistan Army successfully test-fires extended-range Fatah-2 missile

Pakistan Army successfully test-launched the extended-range version of the Fatah-2 hypersonic ballistic missile on Tuesday, according to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the military's media wing.

The Fatah-2 Extended Range (ER) weapon system is equipped with advanced navigation technology and state-of-the-art avionics. According to ISPR, the missile is capable of engaging targets with high precision and defeating enemy missile defence systems through its unique trajectory and manoeuvrability features.

The test launch was witnessed by the commander of the Army Rocket Force Command, senior officers from the Pakistan Army, scientists, and engineers involved in the weapon's development. The ARFC commander commended the dedication and technical expertise of the scientists and engineers who worked on the system.

ISPR stated that the extended-range variant will enhance the Pakistan Army's operational reach and capability to engage deep targets. The missile's extended range represents an addition to Pakistan's air defence capabilities and indigenous missile arsenal.

President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Defence Forces, and the services chiefs congratulated the scientists and engineers on the successful test, according to ISPR.

The Fatah-2 ER is designed to deliver accurate strikes while using its distinctive trajectory and manoeuvrability to challenge enemy missile defence systems. The weapon system's advanced navigation and avionics enable it to engage targets at greater distances with high precision.
