Russian Defense Ministry officer killed in Sevastopol explosion

A Russian Defense Ministry service member was killed in Sevastopol on Wednesday as a result of an explosion, the Federal Security Service (FSB) Directorate for the Republic of Crimea and the City of Sevastopol said.

The victim sustained fatal injuries from the blast, according to the FSB statement to reporters.

Authorities said they promptly detained a Russian citizen suspected of carrying out the bombing. The suspect, a woman born in 1994, was accused of executing the attack on behalf of Ukraine's special services, the FSB Directorate reported.
