Ukrainian MiG-29 crashes in Odesa during combat mission

A MiG-29 fighter jet of the Ukrainian Air Force was lost on the evening of August 10 while performing a combat mission in the Odesa region, according to a statement from the Air Force on Telegram.

The pilot was carrying out a combat mission to destroy enemy air targets in the Odesa region when an emergency occurred during the launch of an air-to-air missile. According to preliminary information, the aircraft caught fire and the pilot lost control of the plane, though he attempted to save it.

The pilot successfully ejected from the aircraft and was evacuated to a medical facility. The causes of the incident remain under investigation by Ukrainian authorities.
