Shakira performed Saturday evening at Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro as part of the "Todo Mundo no Rio" (Everyone in Rio) project, a series of free concerts held on the city's famous beach.
The concert was scheduled to begin between 21:30 and 21:45, with DJ Vintage Culture and Maz opening the event. The stage, positioned in front of the Copacabana Palace, measured approximately 1,500 square meters and featured large LED screens and a 25-meter runway extending toward the audience.
Organizers expected the event to draw more than 2 million attendees, surpassing previous record-breaking performances on the same beach. Madonna's 2024 concert attracted approximately 1.6 million spectators, while Lady Gaga's 2025 performance drew over 2 million people. The Shakira concert was projected to become the largest of her career.
Brazilian singer Ivete Sangalo confirmed her participation in the show, describing Shakira as a close friend. During a Friday night sound check, Shakira performed alongside Maria Bethânia, with the two singers performing "O que é o que é?" by Gonzaguinha and "Leãozinho" by Caetano Veloso. Caetano Veloso also appeared during the rehearsal.
Thousands of fans began arriving at Copacabana Beach early Saturday morning to secure positions near the stage. Some attendees camped overnight on the sand, while others climbed trees along the beachfront to obtain better views. One fan from Curitiba arrived at 10 a.m. and positioned himself in a tree with a direct sightline to the stage. Fans traveled from across Brazil, with some journeys lasting more than a day and a half by bus.
Rio de Janeiro authorities implemented extensive security measures to manage the large crowd, deploying nearly 8,000 agents along with drones and surveillance cameras. The city established special traffic and transportation arrangements, with Avenida Atlântica closed to vehicle traffic. Street vendors lined the avenue selling beverages, sunscreen, and merchandise bearing Shakira's image and the phrase "Lobacabana."
Municipal estimates projected the concert would generate approximately 130 million euros in economic impact for Rio de Janeiro, exceeding the economic benefit of previous megaconcerts held at the same location.
