Taylor Swift has removed her songs from several TikTok posts published by Donald Trump's campaign account, Team Trump, after the music was used without her authorization.
The campaign account posted a video five days ago featuring Trump and First Lady Melania Trump watching fireworks, accompanied by Swift's song "August" from her 2020 album "Folklore." Text overlaid on the video read, "Mood because it's August and Donald Trump is your president." The post's caption stated, "I'm sure Taylor Swift will be super happy we used her music," marking a deliberate jab at the artist.
Swift's music was also used in another campaign post that featured a mock-up of her 2012 album "Red" with Trump's face superimposed over the cover artwork. The post created a fake "Red (Trump's Version)" playlist and included text reading, "Did you know Taylor Swift wrote a whole album about the color of the Republican Party."
Following the removal of "August" from the campaign's TikTok posts, Trump's social media team responded by trolling Swift. The campaign account posted a message in French that translated to a dismissive remark toward the artist.
On the American version of TikTok, the platform displayed a message stating that "the copyright holder has not made this audio available in your country" after the removal. Swift's fans noticed the audio had been taken down and celebrated the action on social media.
This was not the first instance of the Trump campaign account using Swift's music without permission. The account has a history of incorporating her songs into campaign content since Trump's election to his second term.
