Federal immigration officers conducted a workplace raid at the Nutrition Bar Confectioners plant in Cato, New York, on September 4, 2025, resulting in 57 arrests over several hours of operations.
The sprawling snack-food factory, located in the town of Cato east of Syracuse, appeared closed when a small contingent of immigration officers arrived after 9 a.m. Following a brief discussion about whether to force entry, a manager opened the front door, allowing federal authorities from multiple agencies to enter the facility.
Body cameras worn by officers documented the operation as it unfolded. Over the course of several hours, federal authorities debated which files to seize and determined when to release employees who were U.S. citizens. Officers also conducted searches for anyone in hiding within the facility.
The footage from the raid has since become part of a lawsuit filed Thursday. The Associated Press analyzed the video, which offers a rare documented view of a workplace immigration sweep. The case represents an uncommon instance in which body camera recordings from such an operation have been made available for public scrutiny and legal examination.
Cato is a town of approximately 2,500 people located in upstate New York, east of Syracuse.
