Alisa Goods, a 63-year-old grandmother from New York City, has been found dead near Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas, her family confirmed Friday. The body was discovered Thursday, nearly two weeks after Goods went missing while on vacation.
Goods disappeared on August 8 after leaving the apartment of Roger John, a friend of approximately 20 years whom she had visited in Las Vegas many times before. John told authorities that Goods left his apartment around 12:45 p.m. to go to a CVS pharmacy and did not return.
The family reported Goods missing on August 10, two days after she was last seen. Shortly after her disappearance, family members began receiving suspicious text messages from her phone requesting money, raising concerns about her safety.
Goods' daughter, Kristen Goods, traveled from New Jersey to Las Vegas to search for her mother. She checked hospitals and morgues across the city in a desperate attempt to locate her. Las Vegas Metro Police conducted a search within a 20-mile radius of her last known location near East Flamingo and Paradise roads and classified the case as a missing person investigation.
Goods' niece, Alana Calloway, confirmed the identification in a statement Friday. "Our hearts are broken. We were notified that my aunt was found—unfortunately, not the way we wanted her to be. This is an unimaginable time. Words cannot describe the pain our family is experiencing right now," Calloway said. "We just want to thank the public for the outpouring of love, support, and prayers. We also want to thank the media for helping bring attention to this situation."
Goods was a grandmother of five and had been staying with John during her Las Vegas visit.
