A Bronx Zoo animal keeper was bitten by a crocodile Sunday while cleaning an enclosure, according to zoo officials.

The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. when the keeper was cleaning a habitat housing a tomistama, a small freshwater crocodile. Zoo representatives said the keeper slipped and fell during the cleaning work, and the reptile nipped the worker's arm.

The keeper was not seriously injured but was transported for medical evaluation following the bite. Zoo officials have not released additional details about the incident or the keeper's condition beyond the initial assessment.
