Police are asking for the public's help to identify suspects following an illegal street takeover in Queens early Saturday morning.
Multiple vehicles and spectators descended on the intersection of Eliot Avenue and 69th Street around 2 a.m. Video from the scene showed drag racing, cars performing donuts around a "ring of fire" in the middle of the street, and a large crowd recording the activity on their phones.
The NYPD responded to multiple 911 calls within a minute and dispersed most of the crowd. The situation escalated when three suspects jumped onto the hood of a responding police cruiser, cracking the windshield before fleeing. Thick skid marks remained visible at the intersection days after the incident.
Investigators have released photos from the incident and are seeking to identify eight suspects and four additional individuals involved in the street takeover.
