The gunmen fired multiple rounds at a blue Machu Picchu company bus at the intersection of Avenida Universitaria and Jirón Pérez de Tudela in the Cercado de Lima district, approximately two blocks from Bella Unión bridge. The vehicle was carrying passengers at the time of the attack.
Both the bus driver and a female passenger sustained injuries from the gunfire. Emergency responders transported them to a medical facility in the area for treatment. The assailants fled the scene on a motorcycle.
