A bombing at the Dalí nightclub in Trujillo, a province along Peru's northern coast, injured 33 people Saturday in the pre-dawn hours, authorities said. The explosion occurred around 3:30 a.m. during a musical performance by the group Amor Rebelde.

At least five of the injured were in serious condition, according to Gerardo Florián Gómez, executive director of the Trujillo Health Network. Some victims suffered amputations and shrapnel wounds and underwent surgery, Florián told reporters. Among the injured were three minors: one aged 16 and two aged 17.

Fiorella Mantilla, who was present at the nightclub when the blast occurred, told reporters she had glass embedded in her legs. She recalled that the explosion "sounded as if the sound system had suddenly been turned off." Witnesses described scenes of panic both inside and outside the establishment, with attendees running in different directions as the blast wave knocked some to the ground. Images from the scene showed overturned tables, broken glass, and injured people attempting to leave amid confusion and screams.

The band performing at the time captured the moment of the explosion on video, as their audio equipment cut out during the blast. The incident prompted immediate calls to police and emergency medical services by nightclub staff.

It was not immediately clear who was responsible for the bombing or what the motive was. The explosion occurred less than a month after another blast in the same city that damaged 25 homes but caused no injuries or fatalities.

Trujillo is located in the La Libertad region, which has recently been plagued by violence and crime. The region has been affected by extortion and illegal mining activities, and the city has been in a state of emergency since March 2025 due to increases in extortion and homicides.
