Attorney General Pam Bondi has relocated to military housing in the Washington area in response to threats, according to people familiar with the situation.
Ms. Bondi moved from an apartment in the city within the past month after federal law enforcement flagged an array of threats to her staff, these people said. The threats included criticism related to her actions in handling the Jeffrey Epstein case, as well as threats from drug cartels relayed by investigators.
One catalyst for the move was an increase in threats following the capture and prosecution of President Nicolás Maduro of Venezuela in January, according to a senior official with direct knowledge of the situation who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss security matters.
The military base where Ms. Bondi relocated is one of several in or near the Washington area where other Trump administration officials also reside in heavily guarded quarters. The move reflects heightened security concerns for senior government officials in the current administration.
Ms. Bondi's relocation comes as part of broader security measures being implemented for administration personnel facing various threats. Federal law enforcement assessed the threats to her safety as sufficiently serious to warrant the move to a secured military facility.
