President Trump has accepted an invitation to appear at the rescheduled White House Correspondents' Dinner on July 24, according to announcements made Tuesday.

The annual dinner was suspended on April 25 after a gunman attempted to access the venue, prompting an exchange of fire with Secret Service agents. Trump and Vice-President JD Vance were among those rushed off stage by Secret Service personnel during the incident. One Secret Service agent was injured by shotgun fire, and the suspect was subdued by agents on scene.

The White House Correspondents' Association announced the rescheduled date following the disruption. Weijia Jiang, president of the association and a CBS News senior White House correspondent, said in an email to members that the rescheduled event would be a "more intimate gathering" and feature "significantly enhanced safety measures and new access procedures."

The dinner will be held in the Presidential Ballroom of the Waldorf Astoria in Washington, D.C. The venue has capacity for approximately 1,300 seated guests, making it smaller than the roughly 2,500-person gathering originally planned. The Waldorf Astoria was built as a Trump Hotel before changing hands in 2022.

Attendees who purchased tickets for the original April event will not be required to repay the $480 ticket price for the rescheduled dinner.

Trump commented on the rescheduling in a post on Truth Social, calling the announcement "a sign of Strength and Fortitude" and describing the July 24 event as a "'HOT' ticket." He stated that the rescheduling was "a very good thing" in response to the April incident.
