Sanremo's municipal administration is pursuing a strategy to expand the Festival di Sanremo beyond its historic downtown core, according to statements made during the presentation of this year's Festival Village.
Mayor Alessandro Mager and Tourism Assessor Alessandro Sindoni outlined the approach during the unveiling of the Villaggio del Festival, which will again take place at Villa Ormond. The officials described the initiative as moving away from the traditional concentration of events around the Ariston theater and the busiest streets during Festival week.
The administration characterizes the expansion not as a dispersal of activities but as a broadening of opportunities. The strategy aims to create additional spaces and occasions for both visitors and economic and cultural activities located several hundred meters from the traditional heart of the event.
According to the officials, the Festival Village represents a concrete demonstration of this vision. The project, based on available figures, shows how the city can sustain and benefit from a wider distribution of Festival-related events across its territory.
