Stefano De Martino is reportedly in advanced talks to have Maria De Filippi join him as co-host for at least one evening of the 2027 Sanremo Festival, according to an account from Adnkronos on May 28.
De Martino, recently appointed conductor and artistic director of the festival's 77th edition, has been working on the event's organization for several weeks, officials said. Williams Di Liberatore, director of Rai's Prime Time Entertainment division, confirmed to Adnkronos that the organizational machinery for the festival is already underway. "Together with Stefano De Martino we are starting the machinery," Di Liberatore said, noting that work on bureaucratic and organizational aspects of the event has begun.
De Martino and De Filippi share a professional history spanning nearly two decades. De Martino began his television career in 2009 as a dancer on the talent show Amici, which De Filippi has hosted. Since then, De Martino has maintained a close relationship with De Filippi, appearing multiple times as a guest on her program C'è Posta per Te and describing her as a mentor figure.
According to reports, De Martino is already defining fundamental elements of his future festival edition. Among the first items under consideration are a new competition regulation, the show's structure, and the team that will accompany him in selecting songs for the competition. Reports also indicate that the number of competing artists may be reduced compared to previous editions.
De Martino is currently balancing his festival preparations with personal matters. On May 25, his ex-partner Belen Rodriguez was hospitalized, and De Martino was among the first contacted to assist. He traveled to Milan to support her while pausing his regular commitments in Rome, including recordings of the daily game show Affari Tuoi on Rai Uno. De Martino and Rodriguez share a 13-year-old son, Santiago.
As of May 28, no official confirmation has been issued by Rai or the representatives of either De Martino or De Filippi regarding the co-hosting arrangement. The proposal remains in the realm of industry discussion and speculation.
