Venezuelan interim president Delcy Rodríguez announced the activation of "Venezuela Alimenta," a plan designed to coordinate the country's productive processes toward achieving zero hunger, during the opening session of the World Food Forum of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Rome on Monday.
Rodríguez made the announcement before heads of state, prime ministers, and diplomatic delegations gathered at the FAO headquarters. The forum operates under the theme "Innovate today to nourish tomorrow."
According to Rodríguez, the plan will articulate national production, applied science, public and institutional investment, and social distribution networks. The initiative aims to align productive efforts across Venezuela's economy to address food security challenges.
In addition to the plan's announcement, Rodríguez stated that she will present a proposed law to the national parliament in the coming days. The legislation is oriented toward local economy development and is intended to connect community entrepreneurship with large-scale agroindustrial operations.
