A total of 97 migrants arrived Wednesday at various points across the Balearic Islands aboard seven vessels, according to the Government Delegation in the region.
The first arrivals came early in the morning. At 05:35, authorities intercepted 20 people of North African origin at the Botafoc dock in Ibiza's port. At 06:40, six more migrants of North African origin were rescued in the coastal area of Playa den Bossa in Ibiza.
By 08:00 Wednesday, 15 people of North African origin were intercepted at Es Caló in Formentera. Shortly after, around 09:10, another 19 people arrived in the Mola de Formentera area.
Earlier Wednesday morning, three additional boats had reached the islands with migrants aboard. One vessel arrived at Colònia de Sant Jordi carrying 18 people, another reached Cabrera with 7 people, and a third landed in Formentera with 12 people, all of North African origin.
The arrivals Wednesday followed a series of intercepts the previous day. On Tuesday, the Civil Guard and Maritime Rescue participated in rescuing 59 people who arrived aboard four boats at Formentera, Cabrera and Mallorca.
The first Tuesday arrival occurred around 12:30 at the Pilar de la Mola area in Formentera, where 15 people of North African origin were located. At 13:45, a second vessel was found 14 nautical miles southeast of Formentera carrying 17 people of North African origin. Around 15:00, 11 more migrants of North African origin were rescued from a boat two miles south of Cabrera. The final boat ran aground at Cala Figuera in the municipality of Santanyí at 16:35, with 16 people of North African origin disembarking.
