Brazilian UFC fighter Allan Nascimento dies at 34 from heart attack

Brazilian mixed martial arts fighter Allan Nascimento died Monday morning after suffering an apparent heart attack in his sleep, the UFC announced. He was 34 years old.

Nascimento was found unresponsive at his home. Medical personnel responded to the scene but were unable to revive him, and he was pronounced deceased at the location.

"This morning, Monday, August 3rd, our beloved flyweight fighter, Allan Nascimento, was found unresponsive after suffering an apparent heart attack in his sleep," the UFC said in a statement. "Despite the efforts of the responding medical team, he was pronounced deceased at the scene."

The UFC added: "Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Allan's family, friends, team-mates and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time."

Nascimento, known by the nickname "Puro Osso," competed in the flyweight division at 57 kilograms. He had been with the UFC since 2021 and compiled a professional mixed martial arts record of 22 wins and seven losses. Within the UFC, his record stood at 4 wins and 2 losses.

His most recent fight took place on June 20 at UFC Vegas 119 in Las Vegas, where he suffered a split-decision loss to Mitch Raposo.

Nascimento trained at Chute Boxe Diego Lima in São Paulo and held a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He was known for his submission techniques. His nickname came from his training partners at the academy, who gave it to him based on his weight.

He began training in combat sports at age 15, starting with Muay Thai as a hobby before pursuing professional mixed martial arts competition.
