Esther González and Gotham FC have agreed to mutually terminate her contract, allowing the Spanish forward to focus on personal matters in Spain.

González, 33, was Gotham's leading scorer this season with six goals. Since joining the club in August 2023, she has recorded 30 regular-season goals. The forward won the 2023 Women's World Cup with Spain.

During her tenure with Gotham, the club won a pair of NWSL championships and a CONCACAF W Champions Cup.

"This journey has surpassed every expectation I had when I first came to Gotham," González said in a statement. "Together we achieved everything there is to achieve, and I will forever be proud to say that with this club, I won it all. But beyond the trophies, Gotham is the place where I grew in so many ways — as a player."
