Kyle Busch, the NASCAR legend, died from bacterial pneumonia that progressed into sepsis, according to his death certificate obtained by Us Weekly. Busch had been battling the pneumonia for "days to weeks" before his condition deteriorated rapidly.

The sepsis developed roughly one day before Busch's death last Thursday. Once sepsis set in, his condition spiraled fatally within approximately 24 hours. The sepsis caused dangerous clots to spread through his body, followed by severe bleeding that sent his body into shock.

A 911 caller reported finding Busch unresponsive inside a racing simulator. The caller told dispatchers that Busch was on the bathroom floor, coughing up blood and struggling to breathe. He felt like he was going to pass out. Busch was rushed to a North Carolina hospital following the emergency call.

Busch was 41 years old at the time of his death. His death came 11 days after a NASCAR Cup Series race.
